BRISTOL, Conn., Feb 21, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Barnes Aerospace, a business unit of Barnes Group Inc. (NYSE: B), today announced that it is expanding operations in Singapore with the opening of its third facility, a 37,000 square-foot manufacturing location, to produce precision aerospace components for use in a wide range of aircraft engine applications.

Barnes Aerospace has two other facilities in Singapore, one for aftermarket operations and the second for original equipment manufacturing (OEM), each providing state-of-the-art capabilities. The Singapore operations are an integral part of Barnes Aerospace's strategy to improve overall competitiveness, leverage existing infrastructure, and provide global manufacturing capabilities to support production of new aircraft engine components and aftermarket spares.

"With the addition of a second OEM operation in Singapore, Barnes Aerospace is increasing its global manufacturing capacity," said Patrick J. Dempsey, President, Barnes Aerospace. "This new manufacturing operation, in one of the major aviation centers in Asia, adds to our worldwide capacity and leverages our existing technical expertise and resources to better service our global customers."

"We welcome Barnes Aerospace's expansion of its activities in Singapore, which now includes manufacturing of aerospace components, in addition to aerospace component repair. Barnes Aerospace's expansion underlines Singapore's competitiveness both as a leading hub for Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO), and as a cost competitive and attractive location for aerospace components manufacturing," said Mr. Teo Ming Kian, Chairman, Singapore Economic Development Board.

Barnes Aerospace produces precision machined and fabricated components and assemblies for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) turbine, airframe and industrial gas turbine builders throughout the world.
