|Barnes Group Inc. Elects Myldred H. Mangum to Board of Directors|
BRISTOL, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2002--Barnes Group Inc. (NYSE: B) today announced that Myldred H. Mangum, 54, Chief Executive Officer of True Marketing Services, has been elected to Barnes Group's Board of Directors. The election, which brings the Board membership to ten, was made effective at today's regularly scheduled Board meeting.

Ms. Mangum is the CEO of True Marketing Services, a newly formed venture. Prior to this, she served as Chief Executive Officer of MMS, a private equity company involved in developing and implementing marketing and loyalty programs in high tech environments. She has been President, Global Payment Systems and Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Expense Management for Carlson Wagonlit Travel. She also held the positions of Executive Vice President, Strategic Planning and Executive Vice President of Marketing for Holiday Inn Worldwide. Ms. Mangum was the Director of Planning and Development for BellSouth Corporation and was President of BellSouth International. She also held positions of increasing responsibility at General Electric Company in Systems Operations, OEM Marketing and Sales and Materials.
Ms. Mangum serves on the Board of Directors of Scientific Atlanta, Inc., Payless ShoeSource, Inc. and Havertys Furniture Companies, Inc. She has a BA from Emory University and attended the London School of Economics International Business Fellows.
